KATIE HOBBS VETO RECORD

Since becoming Arizona’s 24th governor in January 2023, Democrat Katie Hobbs has issued a significant number of vetoes. She has consistently set and broken the record for vetoes in the state. As she is up for reelection in 2026, Arizona voters deserve to know what those vetoes are and how those vetoes impact Arizonans.

  • Gov. Katie Hobbs' Vetoes

2023:

143 vetoes. This was the initial record-breaking number for a single legislative session.

2024:

73 vetoes.

2025:

174 vetoes, as of July 2, 2025. This is a new record for a single legislative session.

In total, Katie Hobbs has issued a combined 390 vetoes during her time in office as of July 2, 2025. This surpasses the previous record for most vetoes by an Arizona governor, which was held by Janet Napolitano (181 vetoes from 2003-2009).

Her vetoes are her ideology. Her vetoes of bills passed in the Arizona legislature, speak louder than any Hobbs’ campaign commercial she will bomb the airwaves with trying to show the public a moderate leadership. Her vetoes are real examples of her progressive, anti-growth, leftist ideology.

With this in mind, Just the Vetoes, Inc a 501 (c)(4) social welfare organization was created to educate the public regarding Arizona governance, focusing on Gov. Katie Hobbs’ (D-AZ) record breaking vetoes and what that means to Arizona today and in the future.
